I read pretty much any chance I get. I mostly read YA books but some adult ones as well. To me all books are precious gems and are meant to be treasured.

Monday's Bite: Twilight Re-read Along Chapters 11-15 :

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer:
 Chapters 11-15:

Chapter 11: Complications
Chapter 12: Balancing
Chapter 13: Confessions
Chapter 14: Mind Over Matter
Chapter 15: The Cullens

Questions:

 1.  Do you think the name "Twilight" for this book is fitting with the story? Do you think a better name could have been chosen? What about the series and the names as a whole?

- Twilight is the time between dawn and sunrise or between sunset and dusk. The surface of the earth is neither completely light or completely dark. (From Wikipedia)

I believe that Twilight is the perfect name for this book for numerous reasons:
  • Because Bella is trying to figure out what is going on with Edward. Who he is, is hidden to her (it's in the dark), but she is gradually shedding light on the situation.
  • Edward is fighting with himself. He is both light and dark like the twilight portion of the day. The light portion of himself wants to be good "not a monster." He doesn't want to hurt Bella, He loves her. The dark part is his nature, and her blood "sings" to him. He is trying to fight that darkness in himself.
  • Also they mention that Twilight is the easiest part of the day for them, but I like my other two answers better (smiles).
I also like all the names of the books. They all go together as a collection because they all have to do with the sky, but each has a more in-depth meaning.

2.  On this re-read, what's your favorite part of the book? Is it the Vampires, Setting, Plot, Characters, Edward or something else?

- I think my favorite part of the re-read is getting to see Edward and Bella's relationship and personalities again. As I have said before I didn't read the book again after I saw the movies; at least not until now. So I just took what I saw in the movie as how it happened. But you miss so much in the movie. I know I am talking about this again, but just bare with me.

For one thing their relationship happens way to fast in the movie. At least in the book it seems to drag out a bit. Also you miss a lot of the characters personalities in the movie. Bella is to passive and boring in the movie. In the book she is feisty, argumentative, and fights with herself about her feelings for Edward more. Edward though he fights with himself is a bit comical, and sweeter in the book. In the movie he is just to stiff and awkward.

I love the dialogue between the two. There is so much more in the book. Especially the meadow scene. I think the movie just barley touched on these things. So that is what I love about the re-read. I get to fall in love with them and their relationship all over again. You get to really see who they all are and the depths of these two characters.

3.  Edward shows his stalkerish, controlling tendencies during these chapters for the first time (at least Bella is aware) did this bother you the first time you read Twilight? Does it bother you now that you're re-reading it? Should Bella be more worried about it?

- It didn't really bother me the first time I read it, but that was also a couple of years ago. I notice it a lot more now. I think if I was Bella I would get annoyed with it a bit and voice that annoyance, but then again we are not working with normal rules or a normal relationship. So I try to see it more from Edwards point of view.

He is a vampire and when he is being himself he can do anything, so why obey certain rules when you know you wont get caught. He doesn't really have any limits, and he is used to hearing everything all the time. So he has to find ways around that with Bella. (Sneaking in her room, watching her through others minds, etc).
He is a lot older then Bella and the time he comes from men were a little bit more pushy on the women then in this time.

Also with him being a vampire, he has to constantly stay in check, in control and I think at times that may spill out onto their relationship. Because he has been around for a long time he knows so much more then her. He also loves her and wants to keep her safe, and for some reason danger is always lurking at every corner for her. I think he comes off as being more controlling because he is always having to be so careful. For himself and for her.

4.  Do you find yourself, during or after reading, another paranormal / supernatural book, comparing it to Twilight? If you do, why do you think that is? Is it because it's popular or because it's just a book that makes an impact?

- In the beginning I did. Mainly because I just loved Twilight. I loved the forbidden love aspect (always have), and the supernatural aspect. Plus Twilight is the series that made me fall in love with reading all over again. After Twilight I found myself reading a ton more vampire series, and supernatural romances. Now that I have started following blogs and started one myself, I am opened to a great range of Young Adult, and books in general, and I enjoy a variety now.

5. Bella is introduced to the Cullen family in chapter 15. Who is your favorite Cullen and why?

- I absolutely love Alice. I love her daintiness, and her uniqueness. She is super sweet and I think the most loveable vampire you could meet besides Esme. She is there for Edward, and is behind him and Bella from the start. She just loves Bella already and accepts her with open arms. Plus she has great taste and fashion since. She is great to have around if you need advice on your wardrobe or if you need help throwing a great party. Plus she sees the future !!!  All in all I just love her.

On a side note, I do they that they portrayed her well in the movies so far.

  3. I agree that the movie put Bella & Edward's relationship on fast forward. Reading the book for the 100th time again (seriously have no clue how many times it's been for me lol) is helping me to remember how it all started. I missed them too!

  4. I must be the only one that didn't look up Twilight, oh well ;) I agree the best thing about this book is the Bella-Edward dialogue & interactions. Of course if I boy were sneaking into my daughter's room, there would be he'll to pay. But this is a book & a supernatural book, it doesn't have to play by our rules. If you get a chance, stop by http://wp.me/p1h3Ps-mX

  6. I told Ginger after all the questions are answered we need to have a discussion on how the book and movie differ, our likes and dislikes! Every time I see the movie I have to tell everyone what really happened and how the book is so much better!

I couldn't have said it better myself. I think Edward comes off as too moody in the movie. While he is moody in the book, you get to see his lighter side more in the book and I love that. :)

  12. I'm the only Alice hater so far. I need to read more responses...I hope I'm not the only one! :)

I chose the questions about the title because of what Edwards says in this part of the reading.
