I read pretty much any chance I get. I mostly read YA books but some adult ones as well. To me all books are precious gems and are meant to be treasured.

On Lily Sanderson's eighteeth birthday she'll become just a girl-- still a mergirl, true, but signing the renuciation will ink princess Waterlily of Thalassinia out of existence. That leaves plain old Lily living on land, dating the boy she loves, and trying to master this being-human thing once and for all.

Now that Lily and Quince are together, mer bond or not, she's almost content to give up her place in the royal succession of Thalassinia. But just when she thinks she has everything figured out, the waves start to get rough. Lily's father sends a certain whirlpool-stirring cousin to stay with her on land. What did Doe do to get herself exiled from Thalassinia and stuck in terraped from when everyone knows how much she hates humans? And why why why is she batting her eyelashes at Lily's former crush, Brody?

The seafoam on the raging surf comes when a merboy from Lily's past shows up-- Tellin asks Lily for something that clouds her view of the horizon. There's a future with Quince on land, her loyalty to the kingdom in the sea, and Lily tossing on the waves in the middle. Will she find a way to reconcile her love, her duty, and her own dreams?

-- Goodreads Description

If you have not read Forgive my Fins don't read on, there are a few spoilers from the first book.

After Lily severed the bond with Quince, she realized she loved him and decided to choose him and her life on land. Now she is trying her best to figure out what kind of future that is. Since she has chosen to be with Quince she must sign over her rights as princess and future Queen of Thalassinia, a decision she has already come to terms with. She has now focused most of her time on doing better in school and studying for the SAT, to secure a bright future.

She's enjoying her life on land and her relationship, until her tsunami starting-human hating cousin shows up on her front door. She is exiled with no powers, grumpy, and Lily's responsibility. Because as Lily's last duty as princess she must decide when Dosinia's (Doe) sentence is up. A duty she takes very seriously though her cousin drives her crazy. Doe has to change her mind about humans, before she can go home, and Lily is determined to help her do that. That is if she doesn't kill her first.

With Doe's arrival comes a whirlwind of drama and problems, and it all begins with a kiss and a bond between her and Lily's ex-crush Brody. Lily must save her future, her relationship with Quince, her kingdom's future and her cousins heart all before her eighteenth birthday.

This book was a hurricane of drama and suspense, but I enjoyed every moment of it. I know sometimes sequels don't live up to the first book, but I have to say I enjoyed this book even more then the first. In this one the characters grow and develop so much more. Especially Lily. She has come a long way from the ignorant-silly-doe eyed girl I wanted to slap in the first book. We even get introduced to a yummy knew character Tellin, a merman from Lily's past, who brings waves to the still waters of her and Quince's relationship.

It was a great book to end the summer with, but a good read for any time of the year.

Overall Rating = A

    1. I skimmed your review because I haven't read book one yet, but this is a series I've been wanting to start for a while, I love Tera! They just sound like such fun reads, and that's what I like in between all the dark and serious YA books out there.

Thank you so much for the giveaway too! I haven't read very many mermaid books so I can't say I have a favorite outside of the Little Mermaid. That's the winner by default:)

    2. Glad to hear it's good. When I read book 1, I remember thinking her cousin sounded like a good source of trouble.

    3. I've not read this series yet, although I do have the first one. I enjoyed Madigan's The Mermaid's Mirror, and think I would enjoy these too. Thanks!
