Sadie White's Summer job isn't going to be on the beach life-guarding or working at rental booths like most kids her age. With her single mother's increasing pregnancy and refusal to work, Sadie has to take over her mother's job as a domestic servant for one of the wealthy summer families on a nearby island.
When the family arrives at their Summer getaway, Sadie is surprised to learn that the owner of the house is Jax Stone, one of the hottest teen rockers in the world. If Sadie hadn't spent her life raising her mother and taking care of the house she might have been normal enough to be excited about working for a rock star.
Even though Sadie isn't impressed by Jax's fame, he is drawn to her. Everything about Sadie fascinates Jax, but he fights his attraction. Relationships never work in his world and as badly as he wants Sadie, he believes she deserves more. By the end of the Summer Jax discovers he can't breathe without Sadie.
But can their love overcome the disparity in their lifestyles? Or will the have to learn how to breathe without each other.
-- Goodreads Description
Sadie is not your typical teenager. She doesn't have the luxury of spending her Summer on the beach pinning or boys or hanging out with friends. Instead she has to go to work everyday to provide for her family of two. The two being her and her pregnant mother. Her mom decides one morning that she is not going into work, and so Sadie must once again step-in and be the adult. She arrives to her mother's job, hoping they will allow her to work in her place. Though they are leery to hiring someone so young they give her a chance. Not only does it work out great, but Sadie gets even more then she bargains for when she finds out the Summer house belongs to Jax Stone; one of the hottest teenage rock stars of her time.
Summer starts to get brighter as the two fall hard for one another. Sadie's mother refusing to go to work may have been selfish; however, it allowed Sadie to not only find love, but friendship and a family through her co-workers. Sadie finds herself on the emotional-rollercoaster ride of her life as she tries to balance the complications that come with dating a rock star. When her world begins to crumble around her will she have the strength to pick up the pieces and move on, or will she fail miserably?
I can not explain in words how much I love this book. It's one of those books that I will be able to read over and over again. The characters are so well-written that they feel almost real. Like I have known and loved them for years.
Sadie is such a sweet beautiful girl. I like her instantly. She has such a sweet heart, and is always trying to help others. She goes through so much in such a short time, and I was right there with her every step of the way. When her stomach filled with butterflies at Jax's words, mine did too! If she laughed, cried, screamed, or swooned I was right there with her. She is an easy character to love.
Jax! Man what can I say? He's the total package. Sexy-rich-supermodle-rockstar-exterior, Sweet-adorably-romantic-good-hearted interior. Like I said I totally had butterflies at the things he did and said, and I totally fell in love probably even before Sadie did.
Two other characters I really enjoyed were Ms. Mary and Marcus. Ms. Mary is Sadie's supervisor, but she becomes something increasingly more special to Sadie . A big of a mother hen, always looking after her. Something she desperately needs since her own mother is oblivious to her needs. Marcus! O how I love Marcus. He is a co-worker of Sadie's who takes her under his wing, and becomes such a great friend.
All in all, this book was such an adorable read, and I am so happy Abbi shared Sadie's world with us. It is one of my top favorite reads of 2011. I am so happy I could have a summer love affair with it.
Overall Rating: A++ ( I would put more pluses, but you get the point )
